Orange Unified Transportation Board, Planning Board, and Recreation and Parks <br />Advisory Council. <br />The Comprehensive Plan includes the following eight Elements: 1) County Profile; 2) <br />Economic Development; 3) Housing; 4) Land Use; 5) Natural and Cultural Systems; 6) <br />Parks and Recreation; 7) Services (Utilities) and Community Facilities; and 8) <br />Transportation. Recommendations are also provided in the draft Comprehensive Plan <br />that address the administration, implementation, and monitoring of the Plan that will need <br />to take place following its adoption. <br />In addition to numerous citizen comprised County advisory board meetings, during Phase <br />II of the update process, the County conducted public input meetings on January 28tH <br />April 3~d, April 9th and April 23~d. <br />The draft Comprehensive Plan is available on the Orange County Planning Department <br />website at http://www.co.orange.nc.us/planning/compre_cpupdate.asp. <br />Purpose: To receive public comment on the updated Comprehensive Plan in its entirety <br />and receive direction from the Board of Commissioners as to subsequent steps. <br />4. Zoning Ordinance Amendment: REVIEW of a proposed ordinance amendment to <br />Article Six (6) Section 6.20.1 Large Ground Absorption System (3,000 gallons per day) <br />and Package Treatment Plants Prohibited in AR Districts and Rural Buffer Districts <br />clarifying the type of projects that are required to obtain a Special Use Permit or Planned <br />Development approval for a proposed ground absorption system that has a design <br />capacity over 3,000 gallons per day of sanitary sewage disposal. <br />Purpose: To receive public comment on proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance. <br />5. Sign Ordinance: REVIEW of a proposed ordinance amendment(s) seeking to establish <br />specific criteria governing the size, location, and number of permitted signs that can be <br />located within: <br />a. Parks, Public and Non-Profit (P14); <br />b. Recreational Facilities, Non-Profit (S34); <br />c. Recreational Facilities, Golf Course (S35); and <br />d. Recreational Facilities, Profit (36) <br />land uses per Article 4.3 Table of Permitted Uses of the Orange County Zoning <br />Ordinance. <br />Purpose: To receive public comment on proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance. <br />Changes may be made in the advertised proposals that reflect debate, objections and <br />discussion at the hearing. <br />Accommodations for individuals with physical disabilities can be provided if the request <br />is made to the Director of Planning at least 48 hours prior to the Public Hearing by calling <br />the appropriate number listed below.
