DocuSign Envelope ID:29F350EB-C553-4EEB-BD97-898B3775EE03 <br /> SECTION 22 13 16—SANITARY WASTE AND VENT PIPE AND FITTINGS(PVC-DWV) <br /> piping has been completed, the contractor shall flush all of the smoke bombs from the waste <br /> piping system. <br /> 8. All piping and equipment installed under this Contract shall be tested in the presence of the <br /> Engineer and the proper Plumbing Inspector, and proved tight for the periods stated above, or <br /> longer if required by the Inspector. <br /> 9. The test shall be administered in sections if deemed advisable. <br /> 10. No plumbing system or part thereof shall be covered or concealed until after it has been tested <br /> and approved. <br /> 11. If such work has been covered or concealed before testing, it shall be exposed for testing. <br /> 12. The bottom of all pipe trenches shall be a minimum of 1.25 times the outside diameter of the pipe <br /> plus 12"(a 6" pipe would require a 20"trench bed)or the pipe's outside diameter plus 16". <br /> 13. Trench beds shall be firm, even and free of rocks and any other material which may damage the <br /> pipe. In rocky soil, trench bottom shall have a 6" bed of compacted backfill. <br /> 14. After the pipe is installed, tested and inspected, backfill shall be installed and compacted. Backfill <br /> material shall conform to ASTM D-2371 Soil Class III. Backfill shall be installed, compacted and <br /> tested in 6"layers up to 12"above top of pipe. Backfill shall continue in 12"layers to finish grade. <br /> 15. Backfill shall be compacted in accordance with Specification Section "Earthwork", unless noted <br /> otherwise in this section. <br /> 16. The Plumbing Contractor shall have each layer of compacted backfill tested by an independent <br /> testing agency. A copy of the reports shall be provided to the Architect and the Engineer. <br /> 17. Waste lines below grade shall be separated from any water line by a minimum of 10'-0" <br /> horizontally. Below ground waste lines which cross below a water line must be separated from <br /> the water line by a minimum of 18" vertically. If a water line must pass below a waste line, both <br /> lines shall be constructed of a ferrous material to a point of 10'-0" on either side of the <br /> intersection, with an 18"vertical separation. Below ground waste piping shall be separated from <br /> all other below ground piping by a minimum of 12"of vertical separation. <br /> 18. On building drains and building sewers 4" and larger, the Plumbing Contractor shall install a pull <br /> cord at a maximum of 200'-0" intervals for deflection testing. The deflection testing shall be <br /> performed prior to the floor slab being poured. The maximum allowable deflection shall be 5%. <br /> The test shall use a minimum 9-pronged mandrel, pulled through the pipe. The mandrel size shall <br /> be calculated as follows: 1 - .05 x inside diameter of pipe. <br /> 19. The contact length of the mandrel shall be 2" minimum. <br /> 20. The Plumbing Contractor shall provide all required mandrels for testing. The Plumbing Contractor <br /> shall notify the Engineer to witness the testing of deflection. <br /> 21.
