2 <br /> Department on Aging <br /> 3. The Department on Aging has received the following additional revenues: <br /> • Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) — receipt of $3,340 from <br /> the N.C. Department of Insurance. This is a volunteer driven program that focuses <br /> on annual re-enrollment of insurance and helping seniors to better understand <br /> their benefits. <br /> • Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) — receipt of <br /> $4,000 from the N.C. Department of Insurance. These funds will be used for <br /> recruitment and training of volunteers to help seniors to better understand <br /> Medicare and aspects related to it. <br /> • In Praise of Age — receipt of $2,000 from Carolina Meadows Retirement <br /> Community in support of the In Praise of Age public television show that is <br /> produced by the Department on Aging. <br /> • Senior Lunch Programs — additional funds of $47,831 awarded from the Home <br /> and Community Care Block Grant through the Triangle J Area Agency on Aging to <br /> purchase meals and related supplies for the Senior Lunch Programs at the <br /> Seymour and Central Orange Senior Centers. <br /> • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) — receipt of $7,222 from the IRS for <br /> support of the federal VITA tax preparation service. These funds will be used to <br /> pay for additional temporary staff and for supply costs. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 3) <br /> Library Services <br /> 4. Orange County Library Services has received a Library Services and Technology Act <br /> (LSTA) Grant award of $4,945. These funds will be used to purchase privacy screens for <br /> the public computers and two computer tablets for library use at the main branch. This <br /> budget amendment provides for the receipt of these grant funds. (See Attachment 1, <br /> column 4) <br /> New Hope Volunteer Fire Department <br /> 5. The New Hope Volunteer Fire Department of Orange County, Inc. has requested $35,000 <br /> from its Unassigned Fund Balance (See Attachment 3). These funds will be used to <br /> cover some unanticipated vehicle maintenance costs, roofing and gutter repairs at <br /> Station 2, and flooring and carpet replacement at Station I during this fiscal year. With <br /> this appropriation, $36,882 remains in their Unassigned Fund Balance. This budget <br /> amendment provides for this appropriation from the district's Unassigned Fund Balance. <br /> (See Attachment 1, column 5) <br />
