103 <br />Study" from the master plan. <br />• Helping to publicize and advise on the opening of Blackwood Farm <br />Park in early- spring 2015. <br />• Participating and providing input on the State's Mountains to Sea <br />Trail Master Plan effort in 2015. <br />• Advising staff on plans to implement RiverPark improvements in <br />2015 -16. <br />• Working to complete a new concept plan for Millhouse Road Park, or <br />other future County parks as directed by the Board of <br />Commissioners <br />• Revisions needed to bring the Parks and Recreation chapter of the <br />Code of Ordinances up to date. <br />• Consider a support system for recreation activities, including a <br />proposal to create the Friends of Parks, Recreation and Open Space <br />group. <br />• Continued advice and reports on park operation and recreation <br />programming. <br />• Assessing the potential for a disc golf course (and volunteer <br />assistance with the creation of same) at County parks, possibly at <br />Blackwood Farm Park. <br />What are the concerns or emerging issues your board has identified for the <br />upcoming year that it plans to address, or wishes to bring to the Commissioners' <br />attention? <br />Two of the "Issues for Further Study" from the Master Plan appear to <br />warrant further investigation in 2015, and the Council would offer its <br />services to work with staff on these matters with BOCC concurrence: <br />• Further explore the public swimming pool (and swim <br />programs) interest that was expressed in the Master Plan <br />surveys; and <br />• Developing a comprehensive strategy for Orange County <br />community centers — including definition of what a center <br />should be, desired level of service, and potential to accelerate <br />additional usage. <br />Based on feedback received, develop a plan to conduct a statistical <br />random - sample follow -up survey for residents in Bingham Township <br />on interests and desires for the planned future Bingham District <br />Park. <br />• Examine the potential for primitive camping at County parks. <br />
