My academic background is <br />a combination of microbiology, biochemistry and botany with a concentration on organism <br />interactions. My tenure in DPH introduced me to health outcomes and mechanisms to measure <br />those outcomes. My training in the biological sciences as well as the activities related to health <br />policy development has given me a unique view of how policy development and impact must be <br />balanced to improve the public health for residents. <br />Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br />While I was employed I realized the impact the local Boards of Health had on how our public <br />health actions could be put into place in NC. I think I have a somewhat unique perspective to <br />bring to the Board to ensure that Orange County continues to be a leader in public health <br />activities that are supported at the local level.
