21 <br />TRIANGLE RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSERS (TROSA) <br />TROSA is a two-year substance abuse recovery program with the mission fo assist in <br />changing lives and increasing law-abiding behavior by providing aself-supporting, two- <br />year, residential self-help community serving offenders and substance abusers at no <br />cost to the individuals. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: N/A 2008-2009 Request: $3,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $3,000 is recommended for substance abuse treatment <br />services to Orange County residents. <br />UNC-CH DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY- SCHIZOPHRENIA TREATMENT AND <br />EVALUATION (STEP) PROGRAM <br />The STEP Program offers comprehensive care for individuals with chronic mental <br />illness, specifically those illnesses with psychotic features. The program works closely <br />with families and community support services in order to provide continuous, consistent <br />and effective care. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: N/A 2008-2009 Request: $100,000 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding of $100,000 to support the cost of <br />treatment services for Orange County residents. <br />VOLUNTEERS FOR YOUTH <br />Volunteers For Youth, Inc. is a youth serving organization, meeting the needs of <br />delinquent and high-risk young people in Orange County through a one-on-one <br />volunteer program, a community services program and a youth and family counseling <br />program. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $25,000 2008-2009 Request: $35,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $35,000 to Volunteers for Youth to support the <br />community services and restitution program, mentoring program and Teen Court. <br />2008-09 HSAC Outside Agency Recommendations 11 <br />
