20 <br />SENIOR CARE OF ORANGE COUNTY <br />Senior Care of Orange County operates an adult day heath program whose mission is <br />to provide a safe, enriching environment and offer health and social .services to frail <br />disabled and isolated older adults, thus delaying or preventing the onset of <br />institutionalized care. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $50,000 2008-2009 Request: $50,000 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding of $50,000 for services to support senior <br />serves in Orange County. <br />TABLE MINISTRIES <br />TABLE is anon-profit coalition of college students and community volunteers committed <br />to feeding hungry children in the Chapel-Hill Carrboro area. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: N/A 2008-2009 Request: $5,000 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends no funding for this agency in FY 2008-2009. <br />THE ARC OF ORANGE COUNTY <br />The Arc works with and for people who have or are at risk for developmental disabilities <br />to promote full participation in all areas of life in our community.-The Arc works toward <br />this mission through advocacy, education, and collaboration and quality supports. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $4,000 2008-2009 Request: $12,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $12,000 for services to ,Orange County residents with <br />development disabilities. <br />THE WOMEN'S CENTER <br />The mission of the Women's Center is to promote the individual and collective <br />empowerment of the diverse community of women and girls in the Triangle. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $16,400 2008-2009 Request: $18,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $18,000 for services to low-income Orange County <br />residents including: Community Education and .Outreach; Financial and Housing <br />Programs; Legal Information Services; and Support Services. <br />TRIANGLE RAD10 READING SERVICE <br />The purpose of Triangle Radio Reading Service is to provide current news, information <br />and entertainment from the print media to blind, visually ,irripaired, and physically <br />disabled people 24 hours a day on an audio network of radio, television, and cable <br />medium. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $1,800 2008-2009 Request: $2,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding in the amount of $2,000 for services to Orange County <br />residents. <br />2008-09 HSAC Outside Agency Recommendations 10 <br />
