i~ <br />INTER-FAITH COUNCIL FOR SOCIAL SERVICE (IFC) <br />The Interfaith Council aims to meet basic needs and help individuals .and families <br />achieve their goals. The primary goals are to provide emergency shelter, food, direct <br />services, advocacy and information to people in need. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $36,480 2008-2009 Request: $56,480 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding of $56,480 this year for support to <br />residential programs, food programs, crisis intervention and other IFC services. <br />INTER-FAITH FOOD SHUTTLE <br />The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, in the belief that hunger is unacceptable, alleviates hunger <br />by developing systems to recover, prepare and distribute wholesome, perishable food <br />for the area's poor, hungry, undernourished and homeless. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: NIA 2008-2009 Request: $8,000 <br />Recommendation: HSAC does not recommend funding for the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle <br />in FY 2008-2009. <br />JOINT ORANGE CHATHAM COMMUNITY ACTION (JOCCA) <br />JOCCA provides services to very low-income families and individuals. These services <br />include nutrition and aging, self-sufficiency services, job training and employment, <br />community-based assistance, and energy conservation/weatherization and heating <br />assistance. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $105,000 2008-2009 Request: $105,000 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding of $105,000 this year for support to <br />assist low-income families and individuals living in Orange County. <br />KIDSCOPE <br />The KidSCope program is an early intervention program that provides specialized <br />services to young children who are experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral <br />difficulties. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $89,000 2008-2009 Request: $114,200 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $114,200 is recommended to provide education and <br />therapeutic mental health services to preschool age children and families residing in <br />Orange County, consultation to childcare centers, and an alternative therapeutic <br />classroom setting. <br />LITERACY COUNCIL. <br />The Orange County Literacy Council assists adults in improving their literacy skills in <br />order to achieve their employment, community, family, and life goals. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $13,500 2008-2009 Request: $15,000 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding of $15,000 for the adult literacy program <br />that provides individualized and small group instruction for Orange County residents. <br />2008-09 HSAC Outside Agency Recommendations 7 <br />
