i~ <br />EL FUTURO <br />EI Futuro addresses the behavioral health needs of North Carolina's Latino community <br />by promoting behavioral health awareness, enhancing existing services, and developing <br />a model clinic. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: N/A 2008-2009 Request: $60,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $60,000 to provide behavioral health services to Latino <br />adults and children living in and around Orange County. <br />EMPOWERMENT <br />EmPOWERment promotes new models of community building, problem solving and <br />social action and provides services such as home buyers' education, production of <br />affordable housing, business supportive services and community organizing. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $13,545 2008-2009 Request: $28,350 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding of $13,600 to EmPOWERment to <br />empower people and communities to control their own destinies through affordable <br />housing, advocacy, community organizing and grassroots economic development <br />EXTRAORDINARY VENTURES <br />The mission of Extraordinary Ventures is to provide job and social opportunities for <br />people with developmental disabilities. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: N/A 2008-2009 Request: $3,840 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends no funding for this agency for FY 2008-2009. <br />FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION CENTER <br />Family Violence Prevention Center aims to prevent and end family violence through <br />community education, and provision of direct services including emergency assistance, <br />case management and court advocacy. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $19,400 2008-2009 Request: $21,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $21,000 for the provision of domestic violence services <br />in Orange County. <br />FOOD BANK OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA <br />The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina is provides food to people at risk of <br />hunger in 34 counties in central and eastern North Carolina. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $4,500 2008-2009 Request: $10,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $10,000 to harness and supply resources for hunger <br />prevention. <br />2008-09 HSAC Outside Agency Recommendations 5 <br />
