~ ~' <br />CORNUCOPIA HOUSE <br />The mission of Cornucopia House provides a nurturing environment where patients, <br />families, and others can gather to share and receive support, resources, and education <br />to cope with cancer. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $2,000 2008-2009 Request: $6,000 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding in the amount of $6,000 to support the <br />resource center, education, and outreach programs. <br />DISABILITY AWARENESS COUNCIL <br />The Disability Awareness Council (DAC) is a volunteer citizen's action group dedicated <br />to ensuring that all citizens with disabilities enjoy equal access to every aspect of life in <br />the community. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $3,500 2008-2009 Request: $7,500 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding of $3,500 for DAC to assist Orange <br />County citizens with disabilities. <br />DISPUTE SETTLEMENT CENTER <br />Dispute Settlement Center promotes the peaceful settlement of disputes and to prevent <br />the escalation of conflict through mediation, facilitation, conciliation, and training. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $34,000 2008-2009 Request: $41,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding is recommended in the amount of $41,000 to serve Orange <br />County residents. <br />DUKE HOSPICE SERVICES <br />Duke Hospice Services provides palliative care for terminally ill patients regardless of <br />ability to pay. Duke Hospice provides medical, psychosocial, spiritual and bereavement <br />care for terminally ill patients and their families. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $4,000 2008-2009 Request: $4,000 <br />Recommendation: Funding of $4,000 to provide care for indigent residents of Orange <br />County and to provide bereavement services and programs within the schools. <br />EL CENTRO LATINO <br />EI Centro Latino improves the quality of life for Latinos in Orange County by providing <br />social and educational services, community development, advocacy and opportunities. <br />2007-2008 Allocation: $21,000 2008-2009 Request: $22,500 <br />Recommendation: HSAC recommends funding of $21,000 to EI Centro Latino to <br />provide services such as Adult Education classes and employment services to the <br />Latino community. <br />2008-09 HSAC Outside Agency Recommendations 4 <br />
