7 <br />Elementary School Programs in Traditional Public Schools: <br />Peacemakers: College -aged interns (AmeriCorps) offer in- classroom support, supervise <br />transitional periods during the school day, provide after - school programming, and coordinate <br />outreach to parents and parent involvement activities at seven elementary schools in Harlem. <br />Peacemakers are located within multiple HCZ programs. 51" graders are prepared for the <br />difficult transition to middle school through daily after - school academic support, leadership <br />development, and guidance in understanding and accessing middle school. <br />Middle School Program: <br />A Cut Above (ACA): Extending the supports that the Peacemaker program provided through the <br />5t" grade Institute, A Cut Above works with middle school youth providing academic, job <br />readiness and leadership development support to youth who reside in the HCZ project but <br />attend schools throughout NYC. A Cut Above helps prepare students and parents for the high <br />school application process and transition. <br />High School Programs: <br />Employment and Technology Center (ETC): Provides academic, employment and technology <br />related youth development programming for high school youth who reside in the HCZ project <br />but attend schools throughout NYC. The Employment and Technology Center also provides a <br />Saturday program for elementary age youth, computer classes for adults, and community <br />access to state of the art technology. <br />Learn to Earn (LTE): A two -year comprehensive employment program that provides academic <br />enrichment, college and career awareness, youth development, job readiness training and <br />summer employment opportunities for high school age youth who reside in the HCZ project but <br />attend schools throughout NYC. The goal of the program is to assist with breaking down the <br />barriers that prohibit young people from entering the workforce. <br />TRUCE (The Renaissance University for Community Education): A comprehensive leadership <br />program for adolescents who reside in the HCZ project but attend schools throughout NYC. The <br />program promotes academic growth and career readiness using the arts, media literacy, health <br />and multimedia technology. <br />College Program: <br />College Success Office (CSO): CSO provides year -round academic, personal, and financial <br />counseling and support, as well as civic engagement opportunities, to college students. College <br />students receive assistance with academic plans, study strategies, workshops, counseling, <br />financial assistance, internships, career readiness activities and post - graduate opportunities. <br />The goal is for all students to matriculate and graduate from college. <br />Family, Social Service and Health: <br />Family Support Center (FSQ A walk -in, storefront social services facility that provides families <br />in crisis with immediate access to professional social services including foster care prevention, <br />domestic violence workshops, parenting skills classes, and group and individual counseling. <br />
