U-6 <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> REQUESTING TRANSIT SERVICE TO THE <br /> COUNTY'S PROPERTY ON HOMESTEAD ROAD <br /> WHEREAS, the County plans to construct a building on Homestead Road from which to provide <br /> human services for the Citizens of Southern Orange County;and <br /> WHEREAS, the bus stop closest to the site of the proposed Southern Human Services Building is <br /> presently on Airport Road;and <br /> WHEREAS, it is clear to the County Commissioners that citizens of Chapel Hill and Carrboro using <br /> public transit service should not be required to walk a significant distance from the bus <br /> stop to the Southern Human Services facility;and <br /> WHEREAS, the County will provide shuttle service from the closest bus stop to the Southern Human <br /> Services facility; <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the County Commissioners request that the Town Council <br /> consider the prospects of extending bus service to Homestead Road; and we further suggest to the <br /> Town Council that the Town Manager work with the County Manager during the approximately two- <br /> year construction period of the Southern Human Services Building to establish the most acceptable <br /> mix of Town Transit/County shuttle service for the facility. <br /> This is the 28th day of June, 1994. <br /> Moses Carey,Jr.,Chair <br /> Board of Commissioners <br />
