These people accept entry level jobs for shoe <br /> periods. This limits job opportunities for residents who need entry level positions to scan <br /> a career in Orange County. <br /> • Skilled individuals often accept jobs for which they are overqualified because they cannot <br /> afford transportation to surrounding areas. <br /> Recommendations/Strategies . <br /> • Develop a better transportation system to serve Orange County with better access to places of <br /> employment. <br /> • Provide a location for Durham Technical Community College and/or Alamance Community <br /> College in Orange County in order to establish permanent branches for residents. <br /> • Educate the community and plan the economic future of Orange County by defining needs <br /> and by developing compatible resources. <br /> • Diversify the-iax base by inviting environmentally acceptable businesses and industry into <br /> Orange County. <br /> • Identify those types of businesses that Orange County -would like to encourage. <br /> • Provide increased cooperative education programs to introduce students to the work world. <br /> Final Rcport from the SympoNium on Sen-ices for Youth <br />
