Judy Kincaid, TJCOG Solid Waste Planner, requested that the County consider the household hazardous waste (HHW) program at this meeting, rather than waiting until the August 8 meeting. Assuming that all other participating governments approve the agreements as scheduled within the next couple of weeks, it would enable TJCOG to implement the program in mid-July rather than mid-August, and to initiate the hiring process for the staff person who would handle education and publicity about the regional HHW program. Staff did not include this item originally on the June 28 agenda because the 1994-95 LOG budget has not formally been resolved, and funding for the HHW program, though included in the recommended LOG budget, has not been finalized. However, Commissioner Willhoit has indicated that he is amenable to having the Board of Commissioners consider this item on tonight' s agenda, contingent upon funding for the HHW program being included in the final 1994-95 landfill budget. That topic will be discussed at the next scheduled LOG meeting on July 7 . The abstract refers to a proposed interlocal agreement, a proposed agreement with TJCOG, and a January 1994 regional solid waste planners ' report. These documents are somewhat lengthy, and thus not readily "faxable. " However, at your request, staff can make them available to you.
