1
O R A N G E C O U N T Y
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: June 28, 199+
Action Agenda
Item # X—
SUBJECT: Increasing EDC Membership
DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC HEARING: Yes X No
Economic Development Commission
ATTACHMENT (S) : INFORMATION CONTACT:
EDC Resolution Verla Insko
Ted Abernathy
TELEPHONE NUMBERS:
Hillsborough - 732-8181
Durham - 688-7331
Mebane - 227-2031
Chapel Hill - 967-9251/968-4501
PURPOSE: To amend the resolution creating the Economic Development Commission to
increase membership from 13 to 15 members by adding two at-large members to be named
by the Board of County Commissioners.
BACKGROUND: The resolution creating the Economic Development Commission was first
adopted in 1982. In 1988, a revision established the Board membership at 13. Amending
the resolution to 15 members will allow broader representation on the advisory board
and also allow for opportunities for a large pool of applicants.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve increasing EDC Board membership from 13 to 15 members.
