18 <br /> TOWN OF CAR B R <br /> R O O <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> The following resolution was introduced by Alderman Randy Marshall <br /> and duly seconded by Alderman Jay Bryan. <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COXXZNTS TO THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OP <br /> COX=S8IONERS REGARDING WATERSHED PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR <br /> UNIVERSITY LAKE AND CANE CRZER RESERVOIR <br /> Resolution No. 44/93-94 <br /> WHEREA8, the Orange County Board of Commissioners and Planning <br /> Board held a public hearing on February 28, 1994 for the purpose of <br /> receiving comments on proposed amendments to the Orange County <br /> Zoning ordinance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Town of Carrboro understands that any comments <br /> that it may have will be accepted by the Board of Commissioners and <br /> Planning Board through April, 1994; and <br /> WHEREAS; several of the proposed changes pertain to watershed <br /> protection requirements for University Lake and Cane Creek ' <br /> Reservoir; and <br /> WEEREAs; University Lake and Cane Creek Reservoirs are water <br /> supplies for Carrboro Citizens. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF CARRBORO <br /> RESOLVES: <br /> Section 1. That the Town of Carrboro opposes changes to the <br /> Orange County Zoning Ordinance that would reduce setback <br /> requirements for new structures and septic systems to the extent <br /> proposed by the subject amendment: <br /> "Existing setback requirement of 300 feet for septic <br /> systems and 150 feet for structures should remain in <br /> place along the shorelines of University Lake and the <br /> Cane Creek Reservoir and along the perennial streams <br /> discharging to these impoundments. " <br /> Section 2. That the Town of Carrboro supports the continued <br /> prohibition of individual off-site septic system easements in the <br /> University Lake and Cane Creek Reservoir watersheds, opposes <br /> amendments that would allow such easements in either watershed, and <br /> reaffirms its November 16, 1993 and November 23, 1993 position of <br /> requiring individual on-site water wells and wastewater disposal --- <br /> systems only. <br /> P.O.
