Two channels have <br /> already failed on the lower recording deck and the system is <br /> beginning to experience malfunctions on the upper recording <br /> deck. Due to the age of the machine and the cost associated <br /> with repair it is not feasible to repair the recorder. <br /> Sufficient funds are available in Emergency Management's 1993- <br /> 94 operating budget for the purchase of the unit. <br /> Orange County's need were identified and specifications were <br /> developed by County Staff. Bids were solicited and received on <br /> June 7, 1994. A tabulation of those bids is included. <br /> Communications Systems, Inc. of Memphis Tennessee submitted the <br /> lowest responsible bid for all three cost options we requested. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends award of the bid to Communications <br /> Systems for a cost of $41,340.00. <br />
