These contracts provides faculty members who serve as
part-time medical director and clinicians.
BACKGROUND:
The contracts with University have been continuing since 1987, in the case of Family
Medicine, and longer in the case of OB/GYN and Pediatrics. The agreements provide a
cost effective means of assuring high quality medical supervision of the Family Nurse
Practitioners, and other staff serving in the following clinics: Family Planning,
Prenatal Care, Child Health, Tuberculosis, Sexually Transmitted Disease, General
Communicable Disease Control and Adult Health Preventive Services. The terms have been
modified slightly to enhance communication of responsibilities and to clarify the
professional liability coverage.
The OCED agrees to pay the University Fifty thousand two hundred and forty-six dollars
and sixty-six cents ($50,246.66) , in return for an average of 20 hours per week of
faculty time from the Department of Family Medicine. The OCHD agrees to pay the
Department of OB/GYN Eight thousand five hundred dollars ($8,500) , in return for four
and one quarter hours per week of physician time. Finally, the OCED agrees to pay the
Department of Pediatrics Fourteen thousand one hundred seventy five dollars ($14,175)
for FY93-94 and Sixteen thousand nine hundred ten dollars ($16,910) , for FY94-95, for
ten percent of a junior faculty member and five percent of a senior faculty member.
The contract with the Department of Pediatrics is being submitted late because the
development of the contract was overlooked during a change of personnel in the
Department of Pediatrics.
Funds for this contract are provided in the Manager's Recommended Budget.
RECOMMENDATIONS) The Manager recommends that contracts be approved subject to the
approval of the County Attorney and Purchasing Director, and that
the Chair to authorized to sign the contracts.
