Housing Finance Agency has announced the availability of HOME funds <br /> for single family housing rehabilitation projects. The total amount of funding available is four (4) million <br /> dollars with each locality eligible for up to $400,000. The minimum amount that can be spent on any <br /> assisted dwelling unit is$1,000 and the maximum is$25,000. Applications are due July 22, 1994. <br /> The County received$453,600 in late 1992 to rehabilitate substandard housing in the County.Applications <br /> for assistance were solicited from all County residents in order to identity houses to be rehabilitated under <br /> this program. Sixty-three(63) applications were received during a six month period in 1993, however,the <br /> available funds will only allow approximately 30 homes to be repaired. The remaining eligible applicants <br /> have been placed on a waiting list. The availability of this funding will enable us to meet the needs of a <br /> portion of the families still on the waiting list. <br /> Application materials were received on June 10, 1994 and staff is presently preparing the application <br /> document. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): <br /> The Manager recommends approving the submission of a 1994 HOME Program Application for <br /> funds to continue housing rehabilitation program activities and authorizing the Manager to sign the <br /> application upon the County Attorney's review and approval. <br />
