STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA 2 <br /> COUNTY OF ORANGE <br /> II <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this the 1st day of <br /> I <br /> July, 1994, by and between NORTHEN, BLUE, ROOKS, THIBAUT, ANDERSON <br /> I <br /> & WOODS, L.L.P. , Orange County, North Carolina, a partnership <br /> organized under the laws of the State of North Carolina engaging in <br /> the practice of law, hereinafter referred to as ATTORNEYS, and <br /> ORANGE COUNTY, hereinafter referred to as the COUNTY: <br /> W I T N E S S E T H: <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Department of Social Services, <br /> hereinafter referred to as the DEPARTMENT, has need of special <br /> legal services, not otherwise provided by County Governmentl <br /> agencies, in connection with its services to needy and dependent , <br /> persons in Orange County, the administration of its functions under <br /> the provisions of Article 44, Chapter 7A and Article 6, Chapter <br /> 108A of the General Statutes of North Carolina and other laws oft <br /> the State, and representation of the DEPARTMENT, its caseworkers <br /> and employees before the various courts and agencies of the State <br /> of North Carolina; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the COUNTY and ATTORNEYS to enter ) <br /> into a contract, one with the other, for the purposes and <br /> considerations as set forth herein for a period of July 1, 19941 <br /> through June 30, 1995; <br /> NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises and mutual <br /> terms and agreements hereinafter set forth, the COUNTY ands <br /> NORTHEN.
