{
ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
1
Action Agenda
Item # _.Zlt-A
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: June 28, 1994
SUBJECT: NORTH CAROLINA LAND RECORDS GRANT PROGRAM
APPLICATION
DEPARTMENT: Land Records/GIS PUBLIC HEARING: YES_X NO
ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT:
4/21/94 LETTER FROM SECRETARY Roscoe Reeve, Ext 2501
OF STATE
APPLICATION TELEPHONE NUMBER
RESOLUTION Hillsborough 732-8181
Chapel Hill 968-4501
Mebane 227-2031
Durham 688-7331
PURPOSE: To approve an application for participation
in the State's Land Records Management Grant
Program for 1994-95.
BACKGROUND: Each year since 1980, except 1991, Orange
County has participated in the matching grant
program offered by the State of North Carolina
to modernize land records. For 1994-95 the
State has a minimum of $350,000 to award to
counties.
The $62,000 grant request reflects a 50/50
split of $31,000 in State funds and $31,000 in
County funds that have already been
appropriated to the GIS and Remapping
projects. Traditionally the grants have turned
out to be only a few thousand dollars.
The attached resolution is required to qualify
for the matching funds.
RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Manager recommends that the Board
approve a resolution of participation in the
State's Lands Records Management Program to
receive a matching grant.
