C. Secretary <br /> of Transportation to reconcile the State Transpor- <br /> tation Improvement Program and Draft Local Transpor- <br /> tation Improvement Program to the adopted DCHC <br /> Regional Priority List of January, 1994. <br /> BACKGROUND: The N. C. Board of Transportation has adopted a State <br /> Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) that is <br /> inconsistent with the DCHC Regional Project Priority <br /> List because of the inclusion of $30, 000, 000 in new <br /> funds to widen I-40 to six lanes. The programming of <br /> this project was not in cooperation with the DCHC MPO. <br /> Public comments received at the June 21, 1994 DCHC <br /> Public Hearing were strongly against the I-40 project. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the resolution. <br />
