' 3
NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF
ORANGE DOES RESOLVE:
1. The Commissioners are opposed to the proposed
transport of 16-foot wide mobile/modular homes
on any highway in the Durham-Chapel Hill-
Carrboro Urban Area and any other highway in
the State of North Carolina; and
2. The Commissioners are opposed to the transport
of 16-foot wide mobile/modular homes along
unspecified detour routes due to restrictions
for transport through construction zones along
proposed transport routes; and
3 . The Commissioners strongly encourage the State
to fully examine rail transport or other means
for providing the economic advantages necessary
for the N.C. mobile home industry to remain
competitive with manufacturers in other states;
and
4. The Clerk to the Board of Commissioners is
directed to send a copy of this Resolution to
the Governor, the Secretary of Transportation,
the N.C. Board of Transportation, the Council
of State, and to the area's local legislative
delegation. '
This the 28th day of June, 1994.
Moses Carey, Chair
