33 <br /> F. Goal #7: To improve the delivery of human services for young <br /> children and their families. <br /> 1. Project #1: Computerized Information and Referral System <br /> a. Type of Activity: Comprehensive, family-friendly information and referral services. <br /> b. Description of Activity: A comprehensive,computerized, user-friendly database of <br /> services for young children and families will be developed. The goal is to develop the data <br /> base and place it on floppy disk so that information can be provided to families through a <br /> variety of locations, and by staff who work directly with families, such as child care providers, <br /> health care workers, volunteer church programs, etc. <br /> c. Agencies/organizations involved and their collaboration: The Partnership will <br /> work with the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce to develop the data base. The <br /> Chamber will gather the information as part of its larger effort on human services. The <br /> Partnership will supervise the project and develop a planning committee of leading public and <br /> private child and family agencies, the county manager's office,United Way,and computer <br /> experts from UNC-Chapel Hill, to develop the model. A permanent"home" for the data base <br /> and main referral point will be explored through the planning committee. <br /> d. Target population: Families of young children. <br /> e. Expected outcomes, including time-frame: <br /> •:Families will have access to a comprehensive data base of existing services in settings to <br /> meet their needs by January 30, 1995. <br /> f. Implementation plan, including time-frame: The Partnership will hire temporary staff <br /> and identify the planning committee by July, 1994. Staff will develop the data base by <br /> September 30, 1994 and work with the planning team to put the data base together. Computer <br /> systems experts will be hired as consultants for development and piloting of the system in at <br /> least 10 different types of agencies and locations. <br /> g. Types of funds: Services <br /> h. Total amount: $50,000 <br /> i . Budget: Attached <br /> j.
