Contract for FY94-95 TELEPHONE NUMBER: <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To approve a professional contract between the Orange County Health <br /> Department and the UNC School of Pharmacy to provide consultant <br /> pharmacy services which are required by law in order for the Health <br /> Department to dispense prescription medications to its patients. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Dr. Dennis M. Williams has provided professional services as a <br /> consulting pharmacist since 1987 through a contract with the UNC School <br /> of Pharmacy. The University decided to discontinue the contract during <br /> FY92-93. Therefore, an agreement was reached between the Health <br /> Department and Dr. Williams as a individual. <br /> The University has now reconsidered and has agreed to be the agent for <br /> the service. This agreement has only now been reached, however, <br /> Dr. Williams has continued to provide this service in good faith, while <br /> negotiations have been underway. <br /> Contracts for both the current fiscal year and the fiscal year 94-95 <br /> are presented for approval. <br /> This arrangement is acceptable to the Health Department as a cost <br /> effective means of assuring that pharmacy services meet all applicable <br /> laws, regulations and standards. The terms, duties and dollar amounts <br /> for the pharmacy contract remain unchanged. Funds necessary for this <br /> contract are included in the approved budget for FY93-94, and in the <br /> recommended budget for FY94-95. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Manager recommends that the contract be <br /> approved, subject to final review and approval of <br /> contract language by the County Attorney and that " <br /> the Chair be authorized to sign the contract. <br />
