BACKGROUND: On May 2, 1994, the Orange County Board of Commissioners considered options for establishing a Health Promotion Coordinator for the Chapel Hill Senior Center. The Board decided to enter into a Mutual Cooperation Agreement with the Friends of the Chapel Hill Senior Center. Through the agreement, the County would establish a Health Promotion Coordinator position and be reimbursed for salary and related costs by the Friends. The Department on Aging has given Personnel a position description for the proposed position to determine the appropriate classification under the current Orange County Classification and Pay Plan. Personnel compared the duties and responsibilities of the proposed Health Promotion Coordinator position to those of positions in other classes in the Orange County Classification and Pay Plan. The study indicates that the duties and responsibilities of the proposed position are comparable to those of the established class of Public Health Educator/Kellogg Project Director at salary grade 68.
