04;22%94 15:42 $933 4560 CHAPEL HILL-CARR -0- HAKAN CORLEY
3
the names of the parent, teacher, and student representatives will be provided
by May 2 when the Commissioners will meet to act on this proposal.
Proposals must be submitted to the State Department of Public
Instn, ction by June 1, 1994 for funds to be available by July 15 or by July 1,
1994 to receive funding by October 15. Consequently, we are under a very tight
timeline for the development of the proposal, especially since it must be
approved by both Boards of Education. Appointment of the CIS Board to make
up the core of the local task force will allow us to move ahead expeditiously.
On April 21, 1994, school district representatives made this proposal to
the CIS Executive Committee and received its full endorsement.
A copy of the legislation is attached for your information. We would
appreciate your placing this item on the Commissioners' agenda for their May 2,
1994 meeting so that we can meet the deadlines for submission of a proposal.
