Pedersen, Chapel Hill/ <br /> Carrboro Schools TELEPHONE NUMBER - <br /> Dr. Andrew Overstreet, Orange Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> County Schools Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To appoint the present Communities In Schools Board of Directors <br /> as the Advisory Task Force that would submit a joint proposal <br /> from the Orange County and Chapel Hill/Carrboro School systems to <br /> apply for a portion of the $12,000,000 which was recently <br /> appropriated by the General Assembly for Intervention/Prevention <br /> Programs. <br /> BACXGROUND: <br /> The legislation allows school districts to submit joint proposals <br /> to support one or more of the following models: 1) school-based <br /> resource model; 2) after-school program model; 3) Communities in <br /> Schools model; 4 ) alternative learning program model; and 5) safe <br /> schools program model (conflict resolution and peer mediation) . <br /> (see attached memo from Superintendents Pedersen and Overstreet) <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> The Manager recommends the Board approve the request. <br />
