The conference was planned by a steering committee <br /> comprised of representatives from all elected boards in the County, <br /> and the University of North Carolina, as well as citizen volunteers <br /> from the Rural Character Study Committee, Chapel Hill Southern <br /> Small Area Plan Work Group, and Sierra Club. During the <br /> conference, renowned Florida planning consultant Dr. John <br /> DeGrove outlined efforts in other counties, states and regions <br /> where countywide growth strategies have been developed. <br />
