A County representative should serve as Chair. <br /> The Board asked that the Chair of the Commissioners <br /> and the County Manager draft a proposal and bring it <br /> back for consideration at a meeting in April. <br /> As additional background, the following represents: <br /> (1) The General Interests expressed at the BOCC <br /> Retreat; and (2) Specific Interests as identified at <br /> Public Hearings/BOCC Meetings. Note: Some of these <br /> specific interests have been enhanced to include <br /> Commissionerse comments of the April 4 meeting and are <br /> typed in bold print. <br /> 1. General Interests - As identified at BOCC Retreat <br /> a. Avoiding urban sprawl; <br /> b. Preserving protected watersheds and <br /> groundwater supplies; <br /> C. Encouraging bicycle and mass transit <br /> transportation in and between urbanized <br /> areas; <br /> d. Protecting and preserving farmland and open <br /> space; <br /> e. Developing an appropriate mix of residential <br /> and nonresidential development, including <br /> commercial; <br /> f. Encouraging fiscally responsible <br /> development; <br /> g. Involving neighborhood residents in the <br /> planning process; and <br /> h. Enhancing the revenue base of the Town and <br /> the County <br /> 2 . Specific Interests - As identified at Public <br /> Hearings/BOCC Meetings <br /> a. Range of permitted uses; i.e. , appropriate <br /> mix of nonresidential uses; <br /> b.
