43
*• Like the RCSC page 18-19 where development is off the highway
(i.e. buffered) . This solves the issue of aesthetics.
Development should be buffered wherever possible.
• Because each tract is different, each area will require
special study as to where and how much open space and
development will occur. The current plan does not try to
designate where open space should be.
*• Where are the population centers going to be to support the
mass transit for which we now pay $5 per car to support?
There are no park and rides and no buses - except in Chapel
Hill and Carrboro.
*• Farmers in South Orange feel like their days are numbered.
They feel like Chapel Hill residents do not want us to have
cows here.
*• No one option works well throughout the entire county.
Different areas need varied options. Small area planning
development.
*• In regards to the landfill issue, some areas feel they have
"been done to. " We are sensitive about this and the RCSC may
be just one more thing to worry about. We have lost so much
flexibility in this area (particularly Bingham and the
watershed area) .
Summary (group recommendations)
• None recorded.
