Throughout the past year , <br /> we have had our hopes raised, along with other land owners in the <br /> area, that our currently un-marketable lands would _finally be approved <br /> by the Board and that our tax burden of the past few years would be <br /> lifted by the ability to market the property to interested investors , <br /> or through development .of. our own . <br /> We support the- County ' s desire to see this area properly developed : <br /> We support a list of permitted uses that would prevent un-sightly cr <br /> environmentally damsging use of the area. We cannot , however, take <br /> the risk of .another extended period of months- or years while the <br /> Board "fine tunes" this list of uses . <br /> in recent . conv.ersations with the neighboring land owners , we have <br /> been advised, that many of- those owners now believe that the County <br /> Will continue to stall• on the E.D.D. for 1-40,/Old 86 , and that the <br /> list of uses will become so restrictive that -no lending agency will <br /> =und development within the district . <br /> These owners are preparing to apply to the Town of Hillsboroagh -for <br /> annexation of their lands, if the Board of County Commissioners does- <br /> not pass the E .D .D. in Karch. <br /> .Although w.e .are under considerable financial pressure , due to our <br /> tax burden , to join this growing movement towards annexation, we <br /> still believe that the area would be best served by being under th-e <br /> County ' s jurisdictica . <br /> We urge t-he Board to pass the I-40/01d 86 E .D.D. when they meet in <br /> March . ire bel,iev.e that.. a failure to do so will be detrimental to <br /> the best interests. of the citizens of Orange County, and will <br /> certainly lead to yet another annexation request to Hillsborough . <br /> Thank y u. <br /> � . <br /> Robert J.
