Emergency Services/ 911 Center <br />Project Summary: <br />• Property purchased by the County in the Meadowlands will be upfit for an 11,000 <br />square foot 911 Center. <br />• All divisions of Emergency Services will relocate to this Center upon completion; <br />• Current facility on New Hope Church Road will be repurposed or sold. <br />Status to Date: <br />Approximately 23% complete. <br />Completion date: <br />• Target Early-summer 2008 <br />Durham Technical Community College Satellite Campus Development <br />Project Summary: <br />• 40,000 square foot building for classroom space <br />• 20 acre tract in the Waterstone development <br />• Campus may be accessed via either Highway 86 or Old Highway $6 <br />• First of five buildings master-planned for the campus <br />Status to date: <br />• Project completed <br />• Curriculum classes to begin Fall 2008 <br />• Grand Opening: May 2, 2008; 3pm-6pm <br />Human Services Program Delivery Space <br />Project Summary: <br />• County explored various options to human services space needs for the next <br />several years. <br />• Board of Commissioners approved the following .plan: <br />o Contingent upon LGC approval, the County will execute a lease within the next <br />couple of months for 56,000 square feet of space in the Hillsborough Commons <br />Shopping Center for use by the Department of Social Services. <br />o The space may also include similar focus partners that may need space and can <br />provide financial support for their space. <br />o By February 2012, the County may exercise an option to purchase the entire <br />shopping center, which includes 108,000 square feet and 10 acres of property. <br />Assuming this to be the case, the site would become the human services <br />campus for central/northern Orange County and with the exception of the <br />Recreation Department, all County human services departments located at the <br />Whiffed Building would move to this site. <br />o In Chapel Hill, the County would proceed to add approximately 15,000 square <br />feet to the Southern Human Services Center to accommodate the space needs <br />for the Health Department, including the Dental Clinic, a service center for Social <br />Services, as well as expansion space for Housing and Community Development <br />4 <br />
