Passmore, ext. 2009 TELEPHONE NUMBER- Hillsborough - 732-8181 Chapel Hill - 967-9251 Mebane - 227-2031 Durham - 688-7331 ------------------------------------------------------------- PURPOSE: To authorize a resolution to apply for Federal Transit Act (FTA) , Section 18 capital and administrative funding as well as enter into an agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for FY94-95. BACKGROUND: Orange County Commissioners approved on January 22, 1991 an updated Transportation Development Plan (TDP) . The approved plan makes the County eligible for federal and state funding of vehicles and equipment requested in the document over a four year period. In FY93-94, Orange County was eligible for the first time to receive administrative funds for the C.A.T. Progam. The FY94-95 annual Section 18 application is for $ 247,804 which includes $ 173,462 federal, $ "44,270 state and $ 30,072 local matching funds. The funds will purchase four vehicles- a standard van, a standard van conversion with lift, a 24 passenger bus with lift and 20 passenger van cutaway with lift. The vehicles will be used to replace existing C.A.T. equipment. In addition, Orange County's administrative funds will support the overall C.A.T. Program and continue to emphasize general public ridership. The application has been reviewed and approved by the Orange County Human Services Transportation Advisory Board on January 11, 1994.
