23
will be combined with a special allocation of $40, 000 in GA Section
9 funds for the Retabulation of Land Use, Population, and Socio-
economic data (Task II.C. 1) . The funds are reflected under the
City of Durham funding table; however, these funds will be
redistributed among MPO agencies (in proportion to population) once
it has been determined which agencies will collect the data. The
redistribution will be done by an amendment to the UPWP. Receiving
agencies will provide the required local matches for this effort.
The City of Durham will receive $30,416 in FTA Section 8 planning
funds, and the Chapel Hill Transit System will receive $26, 136. The
NCDOT will provide $3 ,802 and $3 , 267 to the City of Durham and the
Town of Chapel Hill, respectively, in matching State funds. FTA
funds were divided among the MPO' s two transit operators, DATA and
Chapel Hill Transit, consistent with' the State Section 8
distribution formula. The City of Durham will also apply for
$124 , 096 (80%) in FTA Section 9 planning funds and $15, 512 (100) in
matching NCDOT funds (excluding the special GA Section 9 funds for
data collection) . The City of Durham will also use $48 , 800 in
carryover Section 9 funds and $6, 100 in matching NCDOT funds (as
reflected in the transit narrative) . Chapel Hill Transit will
apply for $60,952 in Section 9 planning funds and $7, 619 in
matching State funds.
The NCDOT Statewide Planning Branch will use $60, 560 in Highway
Planning and Research (HPR) funds to finance up to 80 percent of
transportation planning tasks for the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro
MPO. NCDOT will also perform data collection tasks for the
regional model as described in the enclosed memo from Ed Johnson,
Raleigh TCC member, to Lou Yates, Raleigh TCC Chairman.
