The County is represented at two
levels in the MPO. Two Planning Department staff
members serve on the Technical Coordinating Committee
(TCC) and a County Commissioner serves on the
Transportation Advisory Committee. Creation of the
position of Transportation Planner in July 1993 is
further evidence of the County's commitment to, and
involvement in, transportation planning.
The municipal jurisdictions in the MPO receive
Section 104 (f) funds, generally referred to as "PL
Funds" , to finance up to 80% of the cost of
transportation planning tasks. A 20% local match is
required. A request last year for County assistance
in data collection for the regional transportation
model prompted a request for PL Funds to help offset
cost of staff time spent on regional transportation
issues. Tasks to be accomplished in carrying out
regional transportation goals are specified in the
UPWP and Prospectus. The DCHC TAC will begin working
on the FY 1994-95 UPWP and Prospectus in February.
