~~~ Minutes of the Haerd of Commissioners <br />fitondag, Julg ], 1952 <br />The Board of Commi ss loners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met <br />at 10 o`clock A. fd., Monday, July '], 1952, Sn the Cortmii ssi opera` Room at the <br />Courthouse, the regular pl¢ce of meeting. <br />Members present: Collier Cobb, Jr., Chairman; R. 0. Forrest and Sim L. ^I <br />Etland, Commis stoners. ~ 1 <br />k4embers absent: Pione. <br />The minutes of the June meetings were recd and approved. <br />IIpon motion of Cos~isaioner Forrest, seconded by Commiasi oner Efland, <br />the foil owing resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />RESOLVED, That the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners is hereby <br />authorized and directed to execute a contract with Piedmont Communication, <br />whereby Piedmont Communication agrees to maintain and replace all defective <br />Harts on four (L;) mobile units used by the Sheriff`s Department at a monthlg <br />fee of $10.00 per unit. Piedmont Communication also agrees to make one ~om- <br />mete installation of mobile equipment in each year that this contract is in <br />effect without charge. Each edditi oval installation vrill be at the rate of <br />•525.00 per vehicle. <br />{whereas, it is necessary and proper that fixed salaries, print inal and <br />interest of indebtedne sa, stated compensation of officers end emplogees, end <br />usual ordinerg expenses of the county and its subdivisions may be promntlg <br />paid. <br />Now, th erefone, upon motion of Commissioner Efland, duly seconded by Com- <br />missioner Forrest, it is hersbg ordered that the following interim apnropria- <br />tiens be made: <br />To the General Fund $ 1,000.00 <br />To Public wfelfere Fund 12,000.00 <br />To Salary Fund 3,000.00 <br />To Courts and Jail 300.00 <br />To School Fund. 10,000.00 <br />To Recorder`s Court Fund 500.00 <br />Ths County Accountant Sa authorized and directed to pay current ordinary j <br />expenses against the funds above 1ls tad not exceeding the amounts of the -' <br />anproprietfons hereby made. S¢1d enpronrletions made bg this resolution shall i <br />be chargeable to the several appropriations re ape ct ively he rea*_'ter made in the <br />annual appropriations resolution and adoption of annual budget for the gear <br />1952-1953, which will be done at the ad,joGrned July 28, 1952 meeting of the <br />Board. <br />Upon motion of Cosunissioner Efland, so tended by Commissioner Forrest, the <br />Ground Observer Corps is hereby granted ne rmi seion to use the State Highway <br />Patrol Office as an observation Host. ' <br />Attorneg S. 9,. LeGrand appeared and reeuested that the Schedule H License <br />for the Southeastern Employment Ageneg be continued for one gear et a fee of <br />$10.00. <br />IIpon mo tlon of Commissioner Forrest, seconded bg Commissioner Cobb, Carl <br />C. Davis> Tax Collector is hereby authorized to issue the 1952-1953 Schedule H <br />License to Southeastern Employment Agencg upon the payment of 510.00. <br />4oon motion of Commissioner Efland, ¢nd seconded bg Cormnis sinner Forrest, <br />the following resolution was unanimousl9 edop tad: <br />That whereas, this Boerd has discussed the fiscal budget for the year <br />1952-1953 and has agreed upon tentative figures in said budget, but final <br />edopti on thereof has been postponed until the adf burned meeting on Julg 28> <br />1952, in order that said tentative budget may be duly published and a copy <br />thereof be filed in the office of the Register of Deeds for public inspection. <br />IIpon motion of Commissioner Porres t, seconded by Cortmissioner Efland, <br />it was ordered that Carl C. Davis, Tex Collector advertise the 1951 land tea <br />sale in The News of Orange County. <br />IIpon motion of Commissioner Forrest, seconded bg Commissioner Cobb and !~ <br />p¢ssed bg a unanimous vote, the anoroval of e petition for addition to state ._-, <br />spstem of roads le eding off Efland-Ceder Grove Road at w8dow Brown`s running <br />Northwest through lends of Dorsett, Heith>,Scott, Eaton and others, a distance <br />of 2.5 miles: PROVIDED the State Righrray and Public 1'lorks Commission allocate <br />an additional 2.5 miles to be added to the state spstem in Orange County for <br />this specific purpose. <br />
