BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />necessary to ensure a workforce's ability to <br />achieve Orange County's organizational goals <br />and objectives. <br />• Develop, implement and evaluate activities and <br />programs that address employee training and <br />development, talent acquisition and <br />performance management to ensure that the <br />knowledge, skills, abilities and performance of <br />the workforce meet current and future county <br />and individual needs. <br />Aging Services <br />• Objective 1.3: Ensure the attention to diversity <br />in Department on Aging programs and <br />information sharing efforts. <br />• There are a large number of Chinese speaking <br />participants at the Seymour Center; <br />programming is offered in both languages. <br />• Objective 3.1: Promote wellbeing and the <br />prevention and maintenance of chronic disease <br />for all older adults in Orange County through <br />increased access to evidence -based programs. <br />• Maintain 4 -6 evidence based programs on a <br />regular basis. These include Chronic Disease <br />Self- Management, A Matter of Balance, <br />Arthritis, Diabetes Self- Management, and <br />Yoga. <br />• Objective 4.3: Increase older adults' ability to <br />protect themselves from exploitation, abuse, <br />and neglect. <br />• During May -June is Elder Abuse Awareness <br />Month. Materials are distributed materials on <br />elder abuse subject as well as purple ribbons in <br />honor of those who have been exploited, abused <br />67 <br />Aging Services <br />• Grant funded bi- lingual social worker for <br />to assist the Chinese speaking seniors. <br />• Food Services Coordinator is a native <br />Spanish speaker. <br />• Instituted a Chinese Advisory Committee <br />as well as recruiting Chinese speaking <br />volunteer interpreters. <br />• Two off -site pilot exercise programs at <br />New Hope Presbyterian Church and Schley <br />Grange Hall. We are hoping to further <br />develop off -site exercise programs in the <br />faith based community by training <br />volunteer leaders. <br />
