BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />62 <br />GOALS/PRIORITIES <br />ONGOING EFFORTS <br />SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br />• DEAPR continues to implement administrative <br />groundwater quantity in the county. <br />policies for sustainable forestry practices and <br />sustainable landscaping on County grounds. <br />Planning and Inspections Department <br />• The Erosion Control /Storm water (EC /SW) <br />Division operates an erosion control program <br />delegated by the NC Sedimentation Control <br />Commission (SCC), administered by the NC <br />Department of Environment and Natural <br />Resources (NCDENR). This is performed <br />under a structure documented in a formal <br />Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). <br />• The water quality aspect of those State <br />responsibilities are expanded under current <br />Orange County UDO regulations designed to <br />protect both the nutrient sensitive Jordan Lake <br />and Neuse River /Falls Lake tributary drainage <br />basins. Under that combined authority, the <br />EC /SW Division... <br />• Enforces Orange County's buffer requirements <br />and storm water water - quality mitigation <br />strategies with respect to improving water <br />quality in storm water runoff to the county's <br />streams. <br />• Their efforts apply to proposed development, as <br />well as existing maintenance incursions by <br />residents performing or wishing to perform <br />maintenance activities in the required buffers. <br />• Educational outreaches into the public schools <br />focused on environmental stewardship are a <br />regular emphasis of this Division, as well. <br />Priority 15: Complete stewardship and <br />Department of Environmental, Agricultural, Parks, <br />Department of Environmental, Agricultural, <br />and Recreation <br />Parks, and Recreation <br />management plans for Lands Legacy. <br />
