BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />.. <br />GOALS/PRIORITIES <br />ONGOING EFFORTS <br />SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br />position. <br />• Reporting to the Economic Development <br />office, a highly qualified individual has <br />since been hired and is beginning to make <br />a positive contribution to the County's <br />efforts to support and elevate agriculture's <br />contribution to the local economy. <br />• Orange County Economic Development <br />designed and launched a new web site, and <br />Facebook page, in January 2012 oriented <br />toward business recruitment and retention, <br />and the diversification of the County's tax <br />base. www.GrowInOrangeNC.com, won a <br />prestigious "Silver" award in the <br />international "W3" web site development <br />competition. <br />Planning Department <br />• The Economic Development Department was <br />identified as the lead department for this <br />priority with Planning as a supporting <br />department. Since the UDO was adopted, <br />Planning has brought forward several rezoning <br />(over 400 acres) in urban - designated areas and <br />UDO text changes intended to better encourage <br />economic development activities. <br />• Planning has worked on water and sewer issues <br />and access management in the Buckhorn and <br />Eno.
