BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />42 <br />GOALS/PRIORITIES <br />ONGOING EFFORTS <br />SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br />100 jobs. <br />• In 2014, the BOCC approved the creation <br />of a new full -time "Business Retention" <br />staff position in Economic Development to <br />allow the County to specifically focus on <br />existing businesses, to include our larger <br />companies as well as the smaller, locally <br />owned independent firms. <br />• A highly qualified and enthusiastic <br />individual has been selected to fill the new <br />position and implement their new business <br />retention plan. <br />• The successful start -up of the Piedmont <br />Food & Agricultural Processing Center <br />(PFAP) was established in Hillsborough in <br />2011. PFAP, which is a joint partnership <br />between Orange, Alamance, Chatham and <br />Durham county governments, has now <br />evolved into a non - profit with nearly two <br />dozen active tenants, has its own advisory <br />board, and is now a successful stand -alone <br />organization. <br />• The BOCC voted in 2014 to allow PFAP to <br />have access to the Cedar Grove <br />Community Center and utilize excess <br />warehouse space there in support of PFAP <br />customers' short -term pallet storage needs. <br />• Agri cultural-themed economic <br />development has gained in momentum <br />with the annual hosting of the Farm to Fork <br />event, the annual farm tour program, the <br />promotion of `agri- tourism" by the Orange <br />County Visitors Bureau, and the County's <br />
