BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />Goal One: Ensure a community network <br />of basic human services and <br />infrastructure that maintains, protects <br />and promotes the well -being of all County <br />residents. <br />Animal Services <br />• Maintains, protects and promotes the wellbeing <br />of all County Residents. <br />• Responsible for rabies control (public health), <br />dangerous animals (public safety), the <br />abatement of public nuisances adversely <br />affecting residents quality of life, <br />• As well as the protection of animals from <br />neglect and abuse (animal welfare). <br />Board of Elections <br />• Experienced, dedicated staff to assist residents <br />• Provide safe, convenient voting sites to all <br />residents <br />Tax Administration <br />• Manage EMS billing and collection. Through <br />that service, staff is able to work with residents <br />to setup amicable payment arrangements to <br />cover the services used. <br />• Staff also works closely with the Orange <br />County EMS staff for quality control as staff <br />members often work first hand with residents <br />that have received service from the County. <br />• Conducts community presentations and other <br />outreach initiatives to educate elderly, disabled <br />and low- income residents on tax relief <br />programs that may be available. Ensuring that <br />non - profits are accurately assessed by state <br />statutes also is in line with this initiative. <br />• Works with the Towns and Orange County <br />Finance in qualifying residents for assistance <br />with fees such as storm water and 3R. <br />• Orange County Community Land Trust (CLT) <br />0 <br />Animal Services <br />• Provide a public notice on each rabies <br />incident in cooperation with Public Health. <br />Board of Elections <br />• Established additional one -stop voting sites <br />with extended voting hours to enhance <br />accessibility <br />Tax Administration <br />• With the County's new Address Ordinance <br />that promotes identifiable and easy -to -read <br />signs for structures, the Tax Office is <br />working closely with volunteer fire <br />departments and EMS staff to promote and <br />implement this safety measure adopted by <br />the BOCC in 2011. <br />
