BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />Department of environmental, Agricultural, Parks, <br />and Recreation <br />• Staff reviewed potential for hosting soccer and <br />other sports tournaments at the Soccer.com <br />Center. <br />• Staff working on possible expansion and <br />enhancement of the Soccer.com Center, which <br />would increase revenue - generation and spinoff <br />economic benefit. <br />37 <br />Additionally, the Bureau created the 2012 <br />Visitor's Guide to Orange County, the <br />2012 Official Visitors Map and "Top 12 <br />Things to Do in 2012" flier. <br />• The Visitors Bureau received three <br />Destination Marketing Achievement <br />Awards at the 2012 N.C. Tourism <br />Leadership Conference Banquet. Gold <br />Awards went to the 2010— 2011 Annual <br />Report and Strategic Plan Overview for <br />"Best Local Constituents <br />Communications" and the Visitor's Bureau <br />E- newsletter for "Best Local Constituents <br />Communications Newsletter ". A <br />Platinum Award for "Best Publications <br />Niche Marketing" went to the Sales <br />Department's piece "Good Meetings Start <br />with Good Preparation" geared toward <br />meeting planners. <br />Department of environmental, Agricultural, <br />Parks, and Recreation <br />• In 2011, Soccer.com has significantly <br />increased number of tournaments, which <br />has enhanced revenue generation and <br />provided substantial tourism and economic <br />benefit. <br />• Beginning in Fall 2012, the Center became <br />one of the host sites for the nationally - <br />renowned College Soccer Showcase Series, <br />bringing teams, parents, coaches and <br />collegiate recruiters from across the nation <br />to Orange County for two weekends in the <br />late -fall. <br />
