BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />employees, are environmentally clean and <br />follow sustainable business practices, are not <br />large water consumers, offer high - technology <br />job skills, and take a role in community <br />leadership. <br />The Arts Commission helps create the artistic <br />product — concerts, exhibits, performances, etc. <br />- that drives entertainment dollars spent by both <br />residents and tourists in Orange County <br />The Arts Commission helps local artists and <br />arts organizations make money and grow their <br />art businesses with free grant- writing and <br />professional development workshops such as <br />marketing, legal issues, social media, contracts, <br />copyrights, accounting, tax issues, crowd <br />funding, tourism, time management, grants, etc. <br />Through arts program development helping to <br />create vibrant Orange County communities, <br />such as FRANK Gallery artists cooperative in <br />downtown Chapel Hill. <br />The Visitors Bureau embarked on new research <br />study focused on visitors and, gauging attitudes, <br />awareness and purchasing behavior of tourists <br />in order to better understand who the target <br />audience is and how to improve marketing <br />initiatives. One or two <br />plant expansions of similar size are <br />anticipated in coming years. <br />Through our two annual grant cycles <br />(Spring & Fall) distributing $190,254 in <br />state funds and $162,500 in county funds <br />from FY10 -FY15 to nonprofits sponsoring <br />art projects, arts organizations, schools and <br />artists; <br />Through arts economic impact studies <br />sponsored by Americans for the Arts. <br />Nonprofit arts & culture in Orange County <br />is an $85.4 million industry supporting <br />3,352 full -time equivalent jobs and <br />generating $8 million in government <br />revenue.
