BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />Maintain a competitive salary structure that <br />encourages employees and their families to live <br />and work in Orange County. <br />Develop and maintain a diverse workforce that <br />exemplifies a commitment to EEO policies and <br />to ensure compliance with our affirmative <br />action policy, which is to promote equal access <br />to employment by protected groups and to <br />continually evaluate our recruiting practices for <br />potential adverse impact. <br />Develop, implement and evaluate recruitment, <br />hiring, orientation, succession planning, <br />retention and organizational exit programs <br />necessary to ensure a workforce's ability to <br />achieve Orange County's organizational goals <br />and objectives. <br />Develop, implement and evaluate activities and <br />programs that address employee training and <br />development, talent acquisition and <br />performance management to ensure that the <br />knowledge, skills, abilities and performance of <br />the workforce meet current and future county <br />and individual needs. <br />Aging Services <br />• Objective 2.1: Orange County, with input from <br />the towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and <br />Hillsborough, will develop and adopt a housing <br />plan for Orange County's increasing older adult <br />population that includes action steps and a plan <br />for implementation and evaluation. <br />• Objective 2.4: Coordinate the navigation and <br />transportation plans between the various <br />32 <br />• Conduct job analyses to create and /or <br />update job descriptions and identify job <br />competencies as essential criteria for <br />hiring, retaining and promoting County <br />employees. <br />Aging Services <br />• Developed a report "Senior Housing in <br />Orange County: Bridging the Gap between <br />Current and Future Senior Housing." This <br />is a starting point in developing a plan with <br />new Housing Director. <br />• Expanded senior centers routes and <br />extended hours are included in the 1/4 cent <br />sales tax plan. <br />
