BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />23 <br />GOALS/PRIORITIES <br />ONGOING EFFORTS <br />SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br />new inter -local agreement on recycling <br />funding and other solid waste management; <br />includes UNC -CH and UNC- Healthcare <br />• Cooperated closely with Chapel Hill in <br />revised development review process in <br />newly reorganized Planning and <br />Sustainability Department <br />• Implemented roll carts urban recycling <br />collection that are serviced by fully <br />automated collection vehicles; carts <br />contain RFID chips to assist in gathering <br />inventory and program performance data <br />that is shared with Towns. <br />• Emergency Storm Debris Management <br />Planning with Towns and DOT <br />• Post local landfill planning with Towns <br />and City of Durham, including execution a <br />waste transfer station use agreement <br />• Local event participation and providing <br />recycling services for Hog Day, and <br />Festifall <br />• Programs /services periodically coordinated <br />with UNC Office of Waste Reduction and <br />Recycling <br />• Solid Waste Department and UNC Energy <br />Services Department work closely together <br />with regard to Landfill Gas Recovery <br />Proj ect <br />• Inter -local Agreement for Solid Waste that <br />expired in 2013 integrated various aspects <br />of solid waste and recycling <br />services /programs. <br />Information Technology <br />Information Technology <br />
