BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />• Continue to offer BOCC meeting support, <br />email, website and VolP support <br />• Provide departmental customers robust <br />transparency in interaction with their customers, <br />e.g., website, social media and online <br />application development <br />Emergency Services <br />• OC Alerts enables us to share information with <br />our residents, including our Community <br />Emergency Response Teams (CERT). <br />• Regularly engaging our residents and workers <br />utilizing social media for two way <br />communication, especially during severe <br />weather events. <br />• Improvements to the department website will <br />offer helpful information and EMS continues to <br />respond to citizen email and telephone <br />Aging Services <br />• Objective 1.L: Increase the accessibility of <br />information about resources, programs and <br />services for older adults in Orange County. <br />im <br />• Application development that enhances <br />customer service and transparency, e.g., <br />central permitting. <br />Emergency Services <br />• Implemented OC Alerts in collaboration <br />with OWASA, and the Towns of Chapel <br />Hill and Carrboro. <br />• Working closely with UNC Hospitals, <br />Department on Aging, and other <br />community partners to establish a Fall <br />Prevention Advisory Board that will <br />incorporate citizen participation. <br />Aging Services <br />• Project EngAGE was launched as a <br />grassroots effort to develop senior leaders <br />throughout the county to provide <br />information resource persons for their <br />communities. 25 persons have completed <br />the 13 week training and are now being <br />organized in to Resource Teams that are <br />project focused. <br />• Redesigned the website to be more senior <br />friendly and launched a Facebook site. <br />• Dedicated outreach efforts to the Chinese, <br />Latino, and LGBT communities. <br />• Opened dialogue with the UNC Health <br />Network to find ways to disseminate <br />
