Priority 6: Develop plan <br />improve how County <br />BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />Staff holds community meetings with local <br />property owners to address development /land <br />use concerns. Most recently staff has held <br />meetings with interested property owners to <br />address concerns related to the discharge of fire <br />arms and enforcement of impervious surface <br />limitations. <br />Department of Environmental, Agricultural, Parks, <br />and Recreation (DEAPR) <br />• Use social media and electronic <br />communications to advise of upcoming events <br />and solicit interactive thoughts about new <br />programs, activities. <br />and tools to I Animal Services <br />and citizens I • <br />communicate with each other; foster two - <br />way exchange <br />Staff works closely with the Animal Services <br />Advisory Board to receive process and respond <br />to resident concerns in coordination with the <br />Board of County Commissioners. <br />W <br />The purpose of the meeting is to allow <br />adjacent property owners to not only learn <br />about the project but to also learn about the <br />process associated with its review. <br />Department of Environmental, Agricultural, <br />Parks, and Recreation (DEAPR) <br />• Used a variety of outreach techniques to <br />solicit resident input into the new Parks <br />and Recreation Master Plan 2030, <br />including focus groups, youth surveys, <br />random - sample surveys, online surveys, <br />targeted minority group outreach, open <br />houses and "road show" tables set up <br />outside of popular local destinations. <br />• The County, towns and both school <br />systems adopted in 2014 a Community Use <br />of School Facilities for Recreation <br />resolution committing to work more <br />closely to meet community recreation <br />needs through the use of school facilities <br />(when not in use by the schools). This led <br />to revisions to schools facility use <br />agreements that should enable more usage <br />local recreation <br />
