BOARD OF ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) <br />GOALS — 2015 UPDATE <br />FOR DISCUSSIONS PURPOSES <br />Emergency Services <br />• Provides prompt competent response to medical <br />and traumatic emergencies for all County <br />Residents and visitors, and supports public <br />safety responders during significant incidents. <br />• The Fire Marshal Division promotes the <br />wellbeing of all county residents by preserving <br />life, property, and environmental resources <br />through education, prevention, investigation <br />and fire code enforcement. <br />• The 9 -1 -1 Communications Division provides <br />the vital link between our community and all <br />emergency service /public safety personnel by <br />receiving and dispatching calls for service. <br />• The Emergency Management Division <br />coordinates with partner agencies to ensure that <br />Orange County is prepared to respond to and <br />recover from all natural, technological, and <br />man -made emergencies in order to reduce the <br />loss of life and property through an all- hazards <br />emergency management program of prevention, <br />mitigation, preparedness, response, and <br />recovery throughout Orange County. <br />Priority 4: Review services to identify and North Carolina State Cooperative Extension <br />protect `safety net' programs and services. • Expanded Food and Nutrition Education <br />m <br />safer homes and less toxic landfills. <br />• Coordinated emergency storm debris <br />management planning and operations with <br />Towns and NC -DOT. <br />Emergency Services <br />• EMS Division worked with the Orange <br />County Health Department and two <br />Municipal Police Departments to initiate <br />the Police Naloxone Initiative to combat <br />increasing numbers of narcotic overdoses <br />in Orange County. <br />• EMS and Health will be teaming up again <br />in 2015 to expand the program to the <br />Sheriffs Department and the Town of <br />Hillsborough. <br />North Carolina State Cooperative Extension <br />• In 2014, over 4,772 youth and adults were <br />engaged in this program. <br />
