I
graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2010 with a B.S. in Chemistry before spending a
year in the UK and earning a M.Sc. in Clean Chemical Technology and Management at The
Queen s University of Belfast. I moved to UNC to begin my Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2011, and for
the past two years I have also served on the Renewable Energy Special Projects Committee
here at UNC. Our task at RESPC is to identify, develop, and fund projects that help increase
energy efficiency on campus and reduce the need for power generated by non - renewable
methods. As a scientist who has spent a number of years carrying out research in the area of
renewable energy development, I am quite familiar with the many environmental problems facing
the planet today. I know that addressing many of these problems is a tall task, but I feel that my
educational background, passion for sustainability and environment, and love of Orange County
will allow me to be a productive member of the Commission for the Environment.
Reasons for wanting to serve on this board:
